READS for Summer Learning SMS/MMS Program

This page describes the READS for Summer Learning (RFSL) SMS/MMS text messaging program operated by Crudspa Foundation for participating school districts, schools, and program sponsors.

Program Purpose

RFSL text messages are non-marketing program messages sent to parents or guardians whose students are enrolled in READS for Summer Learning and whose parent or guardian has opted in to receive text messages. Messages may include reading reminders, family reading tips, book and trifold completion prompts, requests to reply with photos of completed trifolds, photo receipt confirmations, and program support information.

Messages may be sent from +1 (970) 633-3045 and will identify READS for Summer Learning or Crudspa Foundation. Message frequency varies, typically 1 to 4 messages per month during the RFSL program cycle. Message and data rates may apply.

How Parents and Guardians Opt In

Parents and guardians opt in on a paper RFSL registration or permission form provided by their participating school district, school, or program sponsor. The form collects the parent or guardian mobile phone number and includes a separate optional SMS/MMS consent choice. The SMS/MMS consent choice is separate from the student participation permission.

The consent form lets the parent or guardian choose Yes to receive recurring RFSL SMS/MMS messages or No to decline RFSL text messages. A parent or guardian may decline text messages and the student may still participate in RFSL if the student is otherwise eligible and the district's separate RFSL participation requirements are satisfied.

Consent to receive text messages is voluntary and is not a condition of purchase, donation, account creation, school services, or general participation in RFSL. The public sample opt-in form is available here: READS for Summer Learning SMS/MMS Opt-In Form.

Help and Opt Out

A parent or guardian may reply STOP to any RFSL text message to opt out. After an opt-out request, Crudspa may send one final confirmation message. A parent or guardian may reply HELP for help or contact Crudspa at support@crudspa.org.

Crudspa does not use SMS keyword opt-in for this program. Signed paper forms are the source of SMS/MMS consent records.

Privacy and Terms

Crudspa does not sell, rent, or trade mobile phone numbers. Crudspa does not share mobile phone numbers, SMS consent records, or text messaging originator opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
